Widget Example 7: Show counts in custom buttons
June 28th, 2012Has it been 7 weeks already? We are on the last entry of our Advanced Widget Example series. Don’t fret. Next week, We’ll start a new series about Best Practices for Publishers.
On to the last widget example: Show Counts in Custom Buttons
Do you want to show the share counts on your articles but in a fancy way? Or do you want custom ShareThis widget buttons and add counters to those buttons. This helps your users find out which articles are popular so they can share your content to their friends. Click here to get the code and see the live example.

ForbesThe Most Annoying, Pretentious And Useless Business Jargon
This week, sharers gave 110 percent, took their sharing to the next level, reached out to all their contacts across a number of verticals, shared stories about companies on the bleeding edge of technology and really, really thought outside the box. If you reread that sentence just to realize it didn’t say much of anything, you would be correct. It contained half a dozen of the most annoying, pretentious and useless phrases out of 32 “abominable expressions” identified by Forbes editors. Completely meaningless, bureaucratic language such as “core competency,” “buy-in,” “best practice,” and “reach out” is often simply used to disguise the fact that the utterer of these phrases doesn’t really have anything of substance to say, whatsoever. So the next time you feel the urge to “reach out,” think again and maybe just “contact,” “call” or “meet.”

“What do women want?” is an elusive question men have been trying to answer for some time now. Heck, not even some women can answer the question. The (male) author of this piece did his research by asking women to answer that question and the interviewees responded by giving him seemingly obvious answers, at least from the perspective of the fairer sex. But hopefully his commentary will be gold to men who still haven’t found that special someone. And, just in case you can’t remember these nine tips, you really can’t go wrong with being a kind, considerate human being.

You may not have a job, but you have all the time in the world, which means you have plenty to devote to finding your passion, developing aspects of your life that went neglected previously and tracking down new leads. Turning the negativity of being laid off into a positive can mean the difference between spending a day or a week on the couch and becoming a bona fide couch potato.

Following the recent Pacquiao-Bradley decision, and the subsequent accusations of corruption, ThePostGame took a look back at some of the most controversial calls in recent history. The call that decided the gold medal winner in the 1988 Olympics takes the cake, however, after one judge admitted to voting in favor of Park Si-Hun because he felt bad about the local kid being shut out in the final. Talk about bias.
